Stay away. Go elsewhere.
I've been a Konikoff patient for years.
But - Now I see. They are all about making more Money!
As mentioned in another review:
Always, always, always trying to up-sell you on costly services -
like invisible braces, and whitening, and items not covered by your insurance.
I've arrived for appointments to wait 5-10 mins in the lobby.
After being greeted / seated and started. I've sat in the dental chair watching TV for 30 - 45 mins waiting on the Dr to finish another patient before coming to start on me. It's like they double schedule to maximize their business day - disregarding the time a patient has in his/her day.
The folks that do the billing & scheduling can also be rude.
I was once bumped in a time slot, to fit in a patient that was having more work done.
That meant more money for the Konikoff business.
Even though my entire family had visited the office over the years, and we have no outstanding balances - it is often requested that we Pay In Full on the day of the service.
Really? Years of continued service - and you are now not willing to bill me!?
The bill you get should be examined thoroughly.
Don't be surprised to see unexpected fees or other tack-ons to the bill.
So - needless to say. I'll be going to a New dentist.
Do yourself a favor & Stay away from Konikoff dentistry.
The positive: I went in as a new patient as I lived in San Diego the last time my teeth were cleaned. The staff were all very nice. Stacey, my hygienist, was absolutely wonderful. She went out of her way to make me feel comfortable as I had been with my previous hygienist for about 10 years and was very nervous going to someone new. I am glad I found her.
The negative: Upsell, upsell, upsell... they try to sell you as many services and extras that they can. Yes, I want to know my options, but I felt like I was leaving an auto mechanic at check-out. I was provided with a long list of things that could be taken care of (these were not mandatory or immediate issues) and the costs. I felt the same pressure as at the mechanic that I was a ticking time bomb if I didn't immediately take care of these issues (such as re-doing fillings before they were even cavities again). My previous dentist would have never done that, but would have had an honest discussion of pros and cons on optional services and then would have simply left it up to me to act on when I chose.
Summary: I will continue to go to this clinic as I know that you mostly interact with your hygienist and I absolutely feel comfortable with Stacey, and because overall the service was fantastic, and because I have no problem saying 'no'.
